What are the Offering Dates?: Any business day (subject to availability) August 26
through September 9th, 2002 or November 4th through November 18th, 2002
What is the Cost?: US$295, payable by credit card. Contact support@prmia.org if
alternate payment methods are required.
How Long is the Exam?: 5 hours of testing with a 1 hour break after the first 3 hours,
for a total of 6 hours.
Are there any Prerequisites?: Membership in PRMIA. You can register at
www.prmia.org.
How is the Exam Designed?: 120 multiple choice questions administered in five
sections.
How do I Register?: Registration will be available over the telephone beginning May
31, 2002. Spaces at the testing centers will be reserved on a first-come, firstserved
basis, so you are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
What is the expected Pass Rate?: Passing grades will require at least 50% correct
answers in each major section. Pass rates of between 50% and 55% are expected
overall.
Where can I take the test?: The exam is offered in secure, clean and convenient
testing centers in over 350 cities worldwide. Use the link from the Certification
page at www.prmia.org to view a list of cities around the world where the exam
will be offered. Chances are that one is very close to you. Visit
www.prmia.org/2test to find specific addresses and phone numbers of testing
centers.
What kind of Testing Site Security will there be?: Candidates will be required to
present two forms of official identification (see detailed policy in Taking the
Exam) when arriving at the test center. Candidates must sign-in and sign-out of
the testing center. No papers may be brought into the examination room and all
rooms are videotaped during testing and monitored by a proctor using a parabolic
mirror. Scratch paper is provided at the site, but candidates must leave all papers
in the testing room upon completion of the exam.
Will there be an advantage to those who take the test later in the testing window?:
No. There will be multiple forms of the exam, each of roughly equal difficulty.
What is the Designation that Successful Candidates are Awarded?: With the
awarding of the certificate successful candidates become a PRMIA Certified Risk Manager and will have a limited license to use the PRMIA Certified Risk
Manager insignia on business cards, resumes and CV’s. The designation is not a
CRM.
How do you plan to treat FRM Holders?: Holders of the FRM designation earned
during testing 1997-2001 can automatically be awarded the designation of PRMIA
Certified Risk Manager if they are a member of PRMIA and provide
documentation of their award to support@prmia.org. FRM holders receiving their
certificates on exams in 2002 and after will be required to pass a cross-over
examination to be eligible for the designation PRMIA Certified Risk Manager.
